Compare Club Car Precedent and Tempo LED light kits to find the right fit for your cart. We break down the key differences between Instamatic, Steeleng, and MadJax options.
Quick answer
For a Club Car Precedent, the Instamatic LED kit offers proven reliability at a lower cost, while Steeleng provides a budget-friendly basic or deluxe 12V option. For a Tempo (2018-up), MadJax delivers an all-in-one Pro Series with built-in voltage reducer and USB charging, and Steeleng Meteor adds customizable accent colors via an app.
Key differences between Precedent and Tempo models
Club Car Precedent and Tempo models have different electrical systems and physical layouts, so light kits are model-specific. Precedent kits generally work with both gas and electric models, but you must select the correct power type at checkout. Tempo kits from 2018-up are designed for both gas and electric, but some include a voltage reducer to handle the 12V system.
Trade-offs to consider
- Instamatic Precedent kit (2723674) vs Steeleng Precedent kit (2723670): Instamatic offers a street-legal LED kit with proven reliability for $115.17, while Steeleng gives you a choice of Basic or Deluxe 12V packages starting at $107.96. Instamatic is a better value if you need street legality; Steeleng is cheaper if you only need basic lighting.
- MadJax Tempo Pro (2723669) vs Steeleng Meteor Tempo (2723660): MadJax includes a voltage reducer, turn signals, horn, and USB charging for $265.32, making it a true all-in-one solution. Steeleng Meteor costs $255.97 and adds customizable accent colors via an app, but requires a 12V connection and you must check local street-legal ordinances. If you want street legality with minimal extra parts, MadJax is the more complete kit.
- Budget vs. features: Steeleng's Precedent kit is the most affordable at $107.96, but lacks turn signals and horn. Instamatic adds those street-legal features for only $7.21 more. For the Tempo, MadJax and Steeleng Meteor are similarly priced, but MadJax includes more built-in functionality. Spending a little more often gets you a much more capable kit.
