Compare the Steeleng Deluxe and RecPro Basic EZGO TXT Valor light kits: price, brightness, durability, and which one fits your golf cart and budget.
Quick answer
If you want maximum brightness and long-term durability, choose the Steeleng Deluxe kit. If you need a low-cost, reliable setup for occasional night use, the RecPro Basic kit does the job for a fraction of the price.
Why the Steeleng Deluxe kit costs more
The Steeleng 12V Light Kit uses high-intensity LED headlights and tail lights in sturdy injection-molded plastic bezels with tapered holes, designed to withstand repeated off-road vibration and weather. The Deluxe package adds features not found in basic kits.
Be aware: this kit fits 2014+ EZGO TXT Valor models only. If your TXT is older (1996-2013), it will not mount without modification.
When the RecPro Basic kit makes sense
The RecPro Basic All LED Light Kit includes two headlights, two tail lights, a wiring harness, push/pull switch, and templates. At roughly half the price, it gives you acceptable nighttime visibility for casual neighborhood cruising.
A key limitation: the kit runs on 12V only. On electric carts you must connect to a single 12V battery or use a voltage reducer—extra effort not needed with the Steeleng kit's plug-and-play harness.
Basic vs Deluxe tradeoffs
- Brightness & beam quality: Steeleng uses high-intensity LED optics for concentrated, long-distance light. RecPro provides standard LED output—fine for close-range visibility but less throw.
- Build & durability: Steeleng includes injection-molded bezels with tapered holes that resist cracking. RecPro uses standard plastic housings adequate for paved paths but more vulnerable to impacts.
- Installation complexity: Steeleng's harness is designed for direct connection to the TXT Valor 12V system with minimal splicing. RecPro requires a voltage reducer on electric carts, adding time and cost. If your TXT Valor is electric, factor in the reducer expense for the RecPro kit.
- Price difference: Steeleng Deluxe is about $124 (regularly $175). RecPro Basic is about $54 (regularly $90). The gap is roughly $70.
