Learn how to select the perfect folding windshield for your golf cart. We cover fitment, tint vs. clear, and decision rules for Club Car, EZGO, and Yamaha models.

Quick answer

Match the folding windshield to your cart's make, model year, and your need for sun glare reduction. Clear windshields offer maximum visibility, while tinted ones cut glare without adding a separate visor.

Clear vs. Tinted: What You Need to Know

The biggest decision after fitment is whether to go clear or tinted. Clear windshields give you the best forward visibility, especially in low light or on overcast days. Tinted windshields reduce glare from the sun and make the cart look more aggressive, but they do reduce light transmission, so they are less ideal for night driving.

The GCS windshields are made from 3/16" impact-resistant acrylic, so both clear and tinted versions offer the same durability. The choice comes down to your typical lighting conditions and personal preference.

Fitment Matters: One Size Does Not Fit All

Golf cart windshields are model-specific. A Yamaha Drive2 windshield will not fit a Club Car DS or an EZGO RXV. You need to know your cart's make and model year before ordering. The GCS windshields come with all necessary hardware, but for some models, an additional strut may be needed—check the product details carefully.

Decision Rules for Choosing Your Folding Windshield

1. Identify your cart's make and model year: Check the manufacturer's plate under the seat or in the glove box. For Yamaha Drive2, you need a 2017 or newer model. For EZGO RXV, look for 2008+. For Club Car DS, note whether it's a 1982-2000.5 or 2000.5-2007 model. Write down the make, model, and year before shopping.
2. Decide on tint based on your riding conditions: If you ride mostly in daytime sun, a tinted windshield reduces squinting and glare. If you ride at dawn, dusk, or night, choose a clear windshield for better visibility.
3. Check for extra hardware requirements: Most GCS windshields include all mounting hardware, but some models (like the EZGO RXV tinted) specify a 1" strut is needed. Verify your cart has it or order one separately. Read the full product description for any additional parts needed.

Windshield Options at a Glance

GCS™ Yamaha Drive2 (2017 and Newer) Clear Golf Cart Folding Windshield: Clear acrylic, fits Yamaha Drive2 2017 and newer gas or electric carts, includes all hardware. If you own a 2017+ Yamaha Drive2, this is a direct drop-in replacement that keeps your view unobstructed.

GCS™ EZGO RXV Tinted Golf Cart Folding Windshield: Tinted acrylic, fits EZGO RXV carts from 2008+, includes all hardware but requires a 1" strut. The tint reduces sun glare on bright days, and the strut requirement means you may need an extra part if it's not already installed.

Who Should Buy Which Windshield?

Best for

Yamaha Drive2 owners (2017+) who want a clear, impact-resistant folding windshield with all hardware included.
EZGO RXV owners (2008+) who prefer a tinted look and reduced sun glare and already have or can add a 1" strut.

Not for

Club Car DS owners looking for a one-piece folding windshield—the DS models use a two-piece design (clear for 1982-2000.5, tinted for 2000.5-2007).
Night riders who need maximum light transmission—choose a clear windshield instead of tinted.
